Books of the Bible List
A standard Protestant bible consists of 66 books all-in-all and is divided into two parts; the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament consists of 39 historical books that are written by different authors during the time where everything first began up until the time before the birth of Jesus. On the other hand, the New Testament contains the Gospel and numerous letters addressed to various churches and people. Below, you will see a table containing the books of the bible list:
|OLD TESTAMENT||NEW TESTAMENT|
|1 Chronicles||1 Thessalonians|
|2 Chronicles||2 Thessalonians|
|Song of Solomon||2 Peter|
The Old Testament can be viewed as a historical account of what happened during creation up until the Pre-Jesus Era. The author of the first five books, commonly known as “Pentateuch” is Moses while the other historical books were written by prophets or judges (few hand-picked individual by God). These mostly record the relationship of God and His chosen people.
The first four books of the New Testament are called the “Gospel”. It is comprised of the life and works of Jesus Christ as depicted by four of people namely; Matthew the tax collector, John-Mark, Luke the physician, and John the beloved. Most of the letters in the New Testament were written by Paul (or Saul) of Tarsus hence the term “Pauline Epistles”.
The books of the bible list above is the most widely-accepted list by Christians even today. In other versions, the number of books in the Old Testament varies.http://whenwasthebiblewritten.com/books-of-the-bible-list/Books of the Bible ListBible Good To KnowBooks of the Bible List,list books of the bible,list of books in the bible,list of books of the bible,list of the books of the bible,list the books of the bible
