When Was the Bible Written?
We all know that the Bible depicts historical events that happened a long time ago. But exactly when was the Bible written? Although God is considered to be the supreme author of the Bible, the book itself is not merely written by a single person. Nor was it completed in just a few years.
The Word of God is basically split into two parts; the Old Testament which contains 39 books and the New Testament that has 27 books. The Old Testament comprises of historical events that happened before the time of Jesus Christ. It mostly depicts the relationship of God with His chosen people. On the other hand, the New Testament records the historical accounts of Jesus Christ’s life, crucifixion, and how He triumphed over death to spiritually save all who accepts Him as their personal Lord and Saviour.
The Bible is a written collection or compilation of books and letters written by at least 40 authors. These comprise of major and minor prophets in the Old Testament, apostles in the New Testament, and people who were basically chosen by God. Moses is believed to be one of the earliest contributors to the Bible. He wrote the first five books which are often referred to as the Torah or “instruction” during 1,400 B.C. These five are also known by most as the Pentateuch meaning literally “five scrolls”. Through God’s divine instructions, Moses was able to write events that took place even during Creation.
John of Patmos is the author of the last book in the Bible which is Revelation. It is still a topic of debate whether this prophet is John the Beloved, one of Christ’s apostle, or simply an entirely different person. The book of Revelation was believed to be written between the late 80 A.D. and the early 90 A.D. It describes both the author’s apocalyptic and prophetic visions which were revealed to him through a messenger of God.
When was the Bible written? It is important for us to know the answer to this question so that we may appreciate the numerous sacrifices that have been made to ensure that the Word of God stood the test of time. It took roughly 1,500 years (approximately 1,400 B.C. – 90 A.D.) for the Bible to be completed. Up until today, we can apply in our daily lives the teachings and lessons acquired from it. We are able to enjoy this wonderful gift thanks to people like Moses and John of Patmos who made sure that the Bible survives.http://whenwasthebiblewritten.com/hello-world/When Was The Bible WrittenBible Good To KnowHistory of the Bible,How to Read the Bible,Is the Bible True,When Was the Bible Written,Why Study the Bible
